Welcome to the musical wild west!

“Howdy, Stranger” is the story of Jean, a young lawman lookin’ to prove himself worthy of promotion from the town’s stern Sheriff. Alongside his best friend, Buttermilk (who is a horse), Jean sets off to face the dangers of the Wild West armed with nothing but his heart, a guitar, and scarily impressive showmanship. But when he bites off more than he can chew and runs into a mysterious stranger on the outskirts of town, Jean must answer the question:

“How far will one cowboy go to earn a Sheriff’s respect?”

MORE ABOUT THE SHOW

With 6 original songs, puppetry, and twists and turns at every corner, “Howdy, Stranger” is a wild ride through the world of Cowboys and Outlaws…and Horses…lots of Horses. Throughout, Jean struggles with his morals. To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question…

Or perhaps…to Sing!? (Most probably yes)

At its core, the show is a love letter to those struggling for validation outside of themselves, but especially to queer people to whom acceptance is everything. Written and performed by trans artist, Luca Torrens, the story is infused with themes relating to the queer experience which pair nicely with well rounded and nutty comedy, with hints of nonviolence, found family and commentary on machismo. Mmm. Delicious.

(TRIGGERS: guns, alcohol, flashing light, religion, and outrageously catchy tunes.)
